Public transport is the practical choice
Prague's metro, trams, and buses work together. Ordinary Prague tickets are time-based: you can change between covered services while the ticket remains valid. You do not buy a new ticket just because you change lines.
Use PID Lítačka to plan journeys and buy mobile tickets. Enter the hotel or restaurant as your destination, not just the station, so the walking sections are included.
Which ticket do you need?
For a single afternoon, compare separate outward and return tickets with a 24-hour ticket. A day ticket is convenient if you will make extra trips, but it is not automatically the cheapest choice. A 72-hour ticket can make sense if you will explore on several days.
Check the official fare table before buying. Prices can differ between app and paper tickets. Standard Prague tickets do not cover every special service, including Airport Express and certain historic routes.
Buying is not always activating
- Mobile ticket: activate it and wait until the app shows that it is valid before boarding or entering the metro's paid area. Buying a ticket to keep in reserve does not make it valid for travel.
- Unstamped paper ticket: validate it once, before entering the metro's paid area or immediately after boarding a tram or bus. Do not stamp it again when changing services.
- Ticket already printed with a validity start: tickets from onboard contactless terminals are valid immediately; do not stamp them again.
Read the ticket and follow the instructions at the machine. Keep your ticket for the whole journey, including leaving the metro's paid area.
Contactless payment is not simply tap-and-go
Onboard ticket terminals accept contactless cards, but you must select and buy a ticket. Merely carrying a bank card, or assuming a payment tap works like another city's transport system, is not enough. Keep the ticket the terminal issues.
From the airport
Plan directly from your airport terminal to Panorama Hotel, including your arrival time and luggage. Follow DPP's official airport transport advice and check the connection in PID Lítačka. Airport Express has a separate fare; do not assume an ordinary Prague ticket covers it.
Small habits that help
Let passengers get off before boarding. Keep doors clear, hold on in trams, and watch for moving trams when crossing tracks. Keep your phone and wallet secure in busy vehicles and around major sights. Check the last useful connection if you stay out later than planned.
